  4. Newspapers, Inc., the powerful West Coast print-media chain; of a
  5. heart attack while jogging; in Sacramento. McClatchy infused his
  6. papers with a competitive edge and a knack for controversy. After
  7. McClatchy's Sacramento Bee published a 1983 article detailing then
  8. Nevada Republican Senator and later presidential aspirant Paul
  9. Laxalt's ownership of a Carson City hotel and casino during the
  10. 1970s, Laxalt sued for libel. He settled out of court in 1987.
